Russian Envoy in Vienna Calls for End to U.S. Sanctions Policy on Iran

VIENNA (AP) — Russia’s permanent representative to international organizations in Vienna declared on Sunday that the United States’ strategy of threats and sanctions against Iran has failed and must be abandoned.

Mikhail Ulyanov, speaking at the International Atomic Energy Agency headquarters, argued that Washington’s approach of negotiating from a position of strength through military posturing and what he termed illegal economic restrictions has not achieved its objectives. Ulyanov’s remarks came during a high-level diplomatic gathering focused on the future of the nuclear deal and regional stability.
