Privacy Policy

Effective date: 2026-04-16

This Privacy Policy describes how SignalWraith LLC, a Nevada limited liability company operating under the trade name TracerNews, collects, uses, and protects personal information in connection with ConsensusWire (the “Service”). We are committed to handling your information transparently and using no more of it than we need to operate the Service.

1. Who We Are

SignalWraith LLC, operating under the trade name TracerNews, is the data controller for personal information processed through the Service. Our registered address is 1155 E Twain Ave Ste 108, PMB 5177, Las Vegas, NV 89169, United States. You can reach us at privacy@consensuswire.com. If you are located in the European Economic Area or the United Kingdom, our Data Protection contact is the same address above.

2. What Data We Collect

We collect only the following categories of personal information:

  • Account data. Your email address and a hashed password (managed by Supabase Auth), plus any optional profile fields you choose to add. We do not store your password in plaintext.
  • Session cookies. Supabase Auth sets sb-* session cookies on your browser after you sign in. These are strictly necessary to keep you signed in and to protect your account from unauthorized access. They are not used for tracking, advertising, or profiling.
  • Preferences.Category filters, saved articles, API key metadata (the API key itself is hashed and not recoverable), and the cookie-notice dismissal flag stored in your browser’s localStorage.
  • Server logs. Standard access logs including IP address, user agent, timestamp, and request path, retained for up to 30 days for security, abuse prevention, and debugging.
  • Report data. When you submit a report on an article, we collect: the article ID, the source name(s) you selected, a structured reason category, and any optional freeform explanation you provide (up to 500 characters). We do not collect your IP address in connection with reports. Report submissions are reviewed by our editorial team and are not shared with third parties. The legal basis for this processing is our legitimate interest in maintaining platform integrity.

We do NOT use analytics, advertising, behavioral-tracking, or third-party tracking cookies. There is no Google Analytics, no Segment, no tracking pixels, no ad network integration on the Service.

3. How We Use the Data

We use the information above for the following purposes:

  • To authenticate you and keep you signed in.
  • To deliver the Service, including personalizing category views and honoring your saved preferences.
  • To protect the Service from abuse, fraud, and unauthorized access.
  • To respond to your support requests and legal inquiries.

We do not sell your personal information. We do not share it with third parties for advertising. We do not use it to build profiles for any purpose beyond operating the Service.

4. Automated Decision-Making (GDPR Article 22)

Articles are ranked and surfaced algorithmically using the Consensus Score, an automated system that weights source corroboration, cross-platform signals, and the confidence of our language models. This automated processing determines which articles are displayed to you and in what order. It does not produce legal or similarly significant effects on you as an individual, and it is not used for automated profiling for advertising, credit, employment, or eligibility decisions. You can read more about how the Consensus Score works on our About page.

5. Where the Data Lives

Account data and preferences are stored in Supabase, which hosts our Postgres database and provides our authentication layer. The Service is hosted on Vercel. Data is stored in Supabase’s US East region (Washington, D.C., us-east-1) and served globally via Vercel’s Edge Network.

6. Sharing

We share personal information only with service providers strictly necessary to operate the Service (currently Supabase and Vercel), each acting as a data processor under a contract that prohibits using your information for any purpose other than providing their service to us. We may disclose information when required by law, court order, or valid legal process, or to protect the rights, property, or safety of TracerNews, our users, or the public.

7. Your Rights (GDPR / UK GDPR)

If you are located in the European Economic Area or the United Kingdom, you have the right to:

  • Access the personal information we hold about you.
  • Correct information that is inaccurate or incomplete.
  • Request deletion (right to erasure) of your personal information.
  • Export your personal information in a portable format.
  • Object to or restrict our processing of your information.
  • Lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority. For EU residents, that is the data-protection authority in your member state. For UK residents, that is the Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO).

To exercise any of these rights, contact us at privacy@consensuswire.com.

8. California Privacy Rights (CCPA / CPRA)

If you are a California resident, the California Consumer Privacy Act (as amended by the California Privacy Rights Act) gives you specific rights regarding your personal information.

Categories of personal information we collect: identifiers (email address), internet or network activity information (session cookies, server logs), and commercial information (preferences, API key metadata). The sources and purposes of collection are described in Sections 2 and 3 above.

We do not sell or share personal information, including for cross-context behavioral advertising, as those terms are defined under the California Consumer Privacy Act.

California residents have the right to know what personal information we collect, to delete personal information we hold about you, to correct inaccurate information, to opt out of any sale or sharing of personal information (we do not engage in either), and to be free from discrimination for exercising these rights. To exercise them, contact us at privacy@consensuswire.com.

9. Cookies

The Service uses only the following cookies, all of which are strictly necessary:

  • Supabase Auth session cookies (sb-*). Set when you sign in; required to keep your session active and protect your account.

We also store a small flag in your browser’s localStorage (cw_cookie_notice_dismissed) so that the informational cookie notice does not reappear after you dismiss it. This is not a cookie and is not transmitted to our servers.

10. Data Retention

We retain account data for as long as your account is active. Server logs are retained for up to 30 days. If you delete your account, we delete or anonymize your personal information within 30 days, except where longer retention is required by law or necessary to resolve disputes, enforce our agreements, or protect our legitimate interests.

11. Children

The Service is not directed to children under 16, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us and we will delete it.

12. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Material changes will be announced on the Service. Your continued use of the Service after an update constitutes acceptance of the revised Policy.
