PARIS (AP) — Violent riots erupted across Paris late Saturday night following Paris Saint-Germain's victory in the UEFA Champions League final, as celebrations turned chaotic and authorities deployed heavy security forces to restore order.

The unrest began shortly after 9:30 p.m. local time in the city center, where thousands of fans had gathered to celebrate the historic win. Police reported that groups of demonstrators began throwing projectiles, setting fires, and damaging property in the 1st, 4th, and 11th arrondissements. Several vehicles were overturned and set ablaze near the Seine River, while storefronts in the Marais district were looted.

French police and the National Gendarmerie responded with tear gas and water cannons to disperse the crowds.
